Conference Themes

The WIN2026 conference invites contributions across a wide range of topics related to industrial water use, treatment, monitoring, recovery and policy. Submissions are expected to align with at least one of the themes listed below. Please select the most relevant theme when submitting your abstract or workshop proposal.

1. Industrial Water Sources

Exploring alternative water sources for industrial applications, including treated municipal sewage, industrial effluent, and rainwater harvesting.

2. Industrial Effluent: Treatment, Reuse and Discharge

Technologies and strategies for treating, recycling, and reusing industrial wastewater, as well as safe discharge practices.

3. Industrial Water Pollutants

Monitoring, prevention and treatment of specific contaminants found in industrial water streams, including persistent and emerging pollutants.

4. Resource and Energy Recovery

Valorization of industrial wastewater components, brine management, and technologies targeting zero liquid discharge (ZLD) objectives.

5. Water Policies and Industrial Symbiosis

The role of legislation, smart water governance, and industrial symbiosis in enabling sustainable water practices and closing loops across sectors.

6. Water–Energy Nexus

Innovations at the intersection of water and energy use, including chemical-free cooling, water use in hydrogen production, and energy needs for water treatment and transport.

7. Digitalization and Smart Control

Application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, real-time monitoring and predictive modelling in industrial water systems.
